Alright! I'll try to get a scan of those!

Oh, that's actually a nice idea! I'll poke around and see if I can find a nice icon version of one (since I'm no good at pixel art).

Thank you :D

Hmm, probably the most important is the back of the CD, since that's where I usually get the “official” tracklist from. (Front and title strip are important too, but I can often get large enough pictures of those from auctions.)

But of course, if you scan the whole thing, that's even better!

I don't have Chrome on my mini laptop, but for what I can see with Firefox = niiiiice! I really love the banner!

I'm always excited to see the progress! I like the crowns. I also thought that we could put a butterfly icon? The butterfly could be our sort of "mascot" for the site? Random suggestion~

For the rest, I like it! You're doing a great job (as always)! (While I feel so useless right now =( lol)

Alright. Well, what kind of specific info do you want to include into the discography? I know it might sound funny but I'm asking you this because next week, I'm going to ship some UCP CDs to a friend of mine and I could get the info from these releases (and probably even scans) before I shipped them back to her. I know we arent ready to put the info on the website yet, but at least I could store them!

I'll definitely recruit you to help with the discography once things are in a more stable state! way, my plan is to record information directly from physical copies/scans of the releases to be as accurate as possible. So I'll especially be looking for help with anything that you own!

Hey guys! I have another site preview, if you're interested.

http://under-code.occult-proposal.net/index3.php?blog/entry&developers-diary-25

Only look at it if you're using Chrome, though! I spent the weekend designing the overall layout together (which doesn't work in Firefox and IE at the moment, but will before the site launches)—it's a bit different from the community now!

I also worked on the organization of the files; you won't be able to notice that so much, but trust me, it's a lot better! So as far as that goes, you can see the basic blog layout on the main page. You can click the user profile links (like the crowns?) and, on the first entry on the page, you can click the title/comments link to be taken to its individual page, where you can leave a comment (and also see the layout of the comments).

So, that's it! Making progress here, just thought you guys would like to know~

This is looking so great already! If you need help to add info to the discography just give me a shout. I know it can be long to just write down every single info about releases from a band, and in our case from an entire label! Alala.

Sounds good! I'm really happy your method is working. I'm sure there's going to be a few fans ready to help with the translations :)

Hey guys, just posting a random screenshot to show that I'm still working on things~

I've been working mainly on functions, but I also took some time to sort of style things to give an idea of how the site will look when it's done. (Aka spent hours styling the login form at the top |D)

Oh, and about languages: My method for switching languages seems to work really well, and I can add any number of supported languages (within reason). So, really, the limiting factors will be what other languages there's interest in and which ones I can get translators for. So what I'm trying to say is: at some point, maybe you guys can help me look for people to run alternate language versions of the site (which just entails translating blog posts, more or less). And depending on what we get, that will determine which languages the site will support.

But ummm I think that's it, just giving a little progress report~

(1) Inscription (FR) (2) Adresse courriel (FR) (3) "Connexion réussie. Vous allez être redirigé dans 2 secondes." (FR) (4) "Merci de vous être inscrit à WE LOVE UNDER CODE PRODUCTION" (FR)

Voilà. The previous one in French are correct.

That's really great to read! Keep up the awesome work!!

Hey, if you guys are still keen on multi-language versions of the site, would you mind helping me translate some interface phrases?

So far, for the login page, I have (EN/ES/FR): Login / Acceder / Connexion Username / Nombre de usario / Pseudo Password / Contraseño / Mot de passe Stay logged in / No cerrar sesión / Rester connecté

If you wouldn't mind, it'd be really helpful if you could help me translate some other phrases related to logging in and registering (in whichever languages you feel confident in). [Any corrections to the above translations are also welcome!] Register Email address “Login successful. You will be redirected in 2 seconds.” “Thank you for registering at WE LOVE UNDER CODE PRODUCTION.”

I can't yet say for sure that it's completely possible to have multiple language versions of everything, but I've at least worked out (I think) a nice way to display translated versions of text for forms, navigation, etc. And that's really exciting and encouraging :D

I really like that idea of some functions remaining universal and others not. I think it would be the best way. Most people knows English nowadays, I don't think it would be a problem for them to rate an album.

I guess, we can always run polls to see if people would like to have translations or not once the site is launch.

I wish I could help you with the coding!

French? However, I can't confirm that the fanbase is large. I would be tempted to say medium. And I personally could help with the translation for this. Sadly, not for Spanish. The few words that I know wouldn't be of many help~

Sweet! It worked with the admin page :)

Yeah, that's another thing to consider. I suppose some functions would be universal (ex. rating albums, which I want to implement), but then others would be language-specific (ex. release notes, biographies). And maybe for things like comments on a post, you would see both English and [other language] comments (like already occasionally happens at the LJ community)?

Er, actually, I think you can register for an account directly through http://under-code.occult-proposal.net/admin/. (If that doesn't work, register through the Secret Santa site like I said initially.)

[Archived] Mod. Announcement

Yes; register through the Secret Santa website as if you were joining. I'll remove you from the Secret Santa database, but your userinfo will remain and you'll be able to log in to the admin panel and so on.

Yeah, I'd actually really like to do that!

I've been brainstorming ideas of how to manage that from a coding standpoint. (For example, we want notes about a CD to be translated, but we don't want different tracklistings!--actually quite hard to ensure.) If I can come up with something feasible, then I'll look for people to help with the translation process.

The obvious one is Spanish, but I'm not sure which other languages have large fanbases. Any suggestions?

But at the same time, it might have the effect of creating "subgroups" among the overall fanbase... We want everyone to keep in touch and keep that community aspect/feeling. Hm. I don't know anymore =/

Exactly! The pictures aren't going anywhere. They've been saved in my laptop for years, they can wait a bit more lol

Also, I don't know how big you want that standalone website to be, but I thought that eventually we could translate it into different languages? It could be an interesting way to enlarge the overseas fanbase~

By the way, if you guys register via the Secret Santa site (http://under-code.occult-proposal.net/christmas/), then you can actually login to the admin panel that I'm working on: http://under-code.occult-proposal.net/admin/.

There's not a whole lot to do there yet*, but maybe it gives an idea of where I want to go with this super long term goal.

*There's actually a bit more to do if your account is set to admin, but I'll have to do that for you guys after you register. And at any rate, the other stuff that there is to do is still buggy as hell BD

Glad it's working!

And oh yeah, that's totally true. I've been rolling some ideas around in my head trying to imagine how we could make that work. Well, worst case scenario we can just code it up the “hard” way, which is really not so bad at all. We'll see~

Tracking is working for me!

Sweet! I'm really looking forward to your super-long term goal! We could also incorporate the gallery I once suggested of the bands' costume "history". I know basically nothing in coding, but I'm sure you could come up with something ;)

can you see this? Replying to your comment here (and testing the post tracking thing as well).

I really like your birthday calendar idea; I'm just wondering the best way to go about it (I'll talk about that more in a minute).

My short term goals for the community are 1) to open a page for Secret Santa 2011 by October 1st (aka tonight!), and 2) to hold a survey to figure out which time/day most people would be free on (to hold that “concert” I was talking about, hopefully near the end of the month).

However, my super long term goal, which I've been working on a bit already, is to create a standalone website for WE LOVE UNDER CODE. I've been working on it in my spare time, but that's not much, so I'm not nearly done. (If it were just a regular website, it would take no time at all, but I'm trying to code it with complicated forms and databases and so on.)

So, I've got a super simple user system created, and registrations for Secret Santa 2011 will double as registrations to the new site (for whenever it's launched).

Which brings me back to the calendar thing: theoretically, if you log into the standalone site and are an admin, you can add musicians (along with their birthdate) and connect them to the band they're in. This would make a birthday calendar super easy to code, and we would never have to update it, except for adding new musicians when they join the label.

However, I don't have all of that coded. Off the top of my head, it seems like something easy to set up, but I've learned to expect crazy problems when working with PHP. So, should I try to finish up that bit of code, add you as an admin, and have you go at it? Or should we set up something somewhere else temporarily (ex. at google calendar or something)?

[Sorry for the long-winded comment.]

That's a good idea!

It might be hard to find a time that fits to everyone with the time zones. We probably would need to do a sort of survey to see which time is the more convenient for everyone.

I like the idea of the themes~

About the prizes. I guess the drawing among the users is the best way. I can't of something else right now.

Any ideas of how specifically the prize bit should work?

Hello you guys~ Was about to send a PM to both of you, but thought maybe I should hijack an old post instead, so you could both see what the other has to say. And so I did☆

Anyway, had one of my harebrained ideas, and I'd like your input/comments/opinions/suggestions/kisses/etc.

My idea is that, since we'll never see UCP bands live, we should hold a concert of our own! As in, I was thinking of holding an “event” where we stream live performances from our video collection via USTREAM.

Maybe like an couple of hours on one day, or maybe a “two day” event with different themes (old vs new bands, Matina vs UNDER CODE, light vs dark, etc.). But just some sort of streaming even that people would attend.

Also, I could maybe work in prizes somehow? “Attend and you'll be entered” / “show up both days and you'll be entered” sort of drawing or something?

Etc. Just some nebulous ideas floating in my head. You guys have thoughts/ideas?
