[Archived] brodiaea Lyric Archive

Courtesy of Ren's entry in brodiaea's official blog, their homepage now hosts an almost complete lyrics archive! It's missing the INFERNO single, but it has everything from over the screen to Recall. It also shows who wrote the songs/lyrics for each.

I realize some people who worship JASRAC might try to call foul in terms of legality, but the lyrics are hosted by the band. It's 100% legal.

Well yeah, I know I would at least. Nowadays it just seems more likely someone'd just whine and whine and bitch for the lyrics instead of actually.. buying the release. :/

I know what you mean. And then there's the people who want to be nice and try to provide as many romanised lyrics as possible for non-jp fans, and someone goes and reports them to JASRAC. Makes me hate people sometimes. Dx

(And I know what you mean about too lazy to type them. It's a pain in the arse sometimes. :C )

Well, if they aren't conveniently found on the web (like this, or Xodiack's "Kuroi Taiyou, for example), someone is ultimately going to have to make a purchase to find out the lyrics. And if they're feeling generous, they post it online for the various communities to see.

For instance, SIVA's latest releases have been out for a while but the lyrics can't be found anywhere. I do own all 3 CD's, but I'm too lazy to type it.

People would only buy releases for the lyrics if they've pirated the release online with no scans (which is 99.99% of all uploads here on LJ pertaining to Jrock).

It's a really messy fucked up circle of people wanting releases, people wanting to buy releases, and people wanting lyrics. My ears start to bleed if I think about it too long.

Amen D: Not to mention, even if you ask if you can leave romaji up, they'll say no. That's productive to promoting the band overseas how? I guess it's like the RIAA, they honestly don't really give a shit about the bands. :x (and are there people who would actually worship that crap? If so, that's really sad.)

As for the OP, really cool to have lyrics on an official page! I actually wish more bands would do that. :C It'd be pretty useful! (And honestly, do many people buy releases only for the lyrics? I wouldn't think they would. D:) /rambling

I hear ya Yama. They just want money, but they operate much like a mafia group or some bureau. If they aren't getting any money through THEIR licensing, they harass the opposition. If someone isn't buying their licensed CD's to get the lyrics and are using a site, they get bullied until they desist, because they aren't getting any money.

The world of copyright and licensing is dirty.

King of off topic, but I REALLY don't understand the kind of JASRAC attitude with lyrics and images of the band and things like that. There's literally no way that a band can be exploited just because its lyrics are posted somewhere. If anything, it can only encourage fans to invest more in a band. It's utterly backwards and ridiculous, and it's amazing to me that English fansites have been contacted over such nonsense!
