In a surprising move, DEVIL KITTY have just announced that they have departed from their label, ROCKSTAR RECORDS, on October 3rd.
Fortunately, the band is expected to continue their activities as they are still doing their free oneman tour until the tour final in December. However, they're not the first band to go...bands like THE EGOIST, Dear (who actually disbanded earlier this year), and more recently, MEARY, have already departed from the troubled label; because of this, AVANCHICK's future looks uncertain. Apparently, the label is going through financial troubles as owner Yayoi is close to being broke.
Here's to hoping that things turn out well for him and ROCKSTAR.
According to a 2ch source (whose credibility should be taken with a grain of salt), there is growing animosity between Yayoi and the ROCKSTAR bands. Basically, Yayoi tricked the bands into thinking he had lots of money, which would have been enough for the label to support them, but in actuality, he's broke af, meaning he's supposedly homeless and is actually staying with friends (
where the hell is his wife?!). That means the bands themselves were paying expenses to the label, including Kiryu from BETTY (who happened to look up to Yayoi), without getting paid back by Yayoi. Because of these expenses, bands were not able to record at the studio, which makes sense seeing that these bands have almost no releases whatsoever, especially BETTY.
The drama has now escalated to the point where Yuuga (Devil Kitty) is also frustrated with his ex-bandmate, and has apparently unfollowed him on twitter (gasp). He also gives praise to the ROCKSTAR bands, while also noticeably leaving out AVANCHICK...
Members of the ex-ROCKSTAR bands are starting to speak out against Yayoi as well, with Rouis from THE EGOIST claiming that he was threatened to get beat up by Yayoi if he ever said his band was removed from the label, and Toki from MEARY had apparently made a threat towards Yayoi, only masking them under a cleverly written tweet (the tweet was deleted, but quickly caught by a tanuki account; the apparent death threat is highlighted in red, basically saying "Yayoi, die"):
In contrast to rumors saying that AVANCHICK will stay loyal, NOAH from AVANCHICK had also apparently voiced his displeasure with the label, allegedly stating in a twitcast that he'd like to leave too. Again, take it with a grain of salt.
Who knows what's going on at this point...maybe this label won't last much longer.
